A 1962 news report and wake up call: why the Indian Armed force is careful about China’s current ‘Disengagement’.The Armed force has been hesitant to put out any subtleties of the withdrawal at Galwan Valley. By early October, as the winter set in and temperatures plunged to below zero temperatures, the then Leader Jawaharlal Nehru chose to de draft the Gorkhas and send in 5 Jats Alpa Organization under Significant S Hasabnis. Mi-4 helicopters began making forays from the fourth of October and the procedure was finished in the following hardly any days.

On October 20, 1962, the Chinese started shooting at the Galwan Post and slaughtered 36 Indian Fighters. Major Hasabnis was caught. The 1962 war had formally started. Major Hasabnis went through seven months in a POW camp and was returned once the war finished.

By chance, his Son Lt Gen Hasabnis is presently the Vice president of Armed force Staff.
