Abdullah Ghazi, sitting in Pakistan, was running an online recruitment module in Kashmir; CIK foiled the conspiracy, 10 arrested. The counter-intelligence wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday detained ten people. Officials said that these people have been detained for allegedly using encrypted messaging applications to coordinate, finance, and execute terrorist activities on the instructions of Pakistan-based masters.

They were detained after searches were conducted by Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) at 10 places in Budgam, Pulwama, Ganderbal, and Srinagar districts. This action relates to a terrorism-related case that was filed two years ago under Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code and several provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The Counter-Intelligence Wing Kashmir (CIK) of Jammu and Kashmir Police has foiled a conspiracy being run on the internet media to recruit local boys in terrorist organizations in Kashmir. Abdullah Ghazi, also known as Shaukat, was a Pakistani terrorist affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed who was responsible for this web conspiracy.

The CIK has also identified about 10 cyber jihadis involved in his module. Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Saturday conducted searches at ten locations in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, and Pulwama in connection with a terror case under the NIA Act.

Officials confirmed that during the investigation, the suspects were found using encrypted technical messaging applications. These are widely used by terrorists/handlers for coordination, financing, and execution of various types of terrorism related activities, including recruitment in terrorist ranks.

They are suspected to have links with opponents, including Pakistan-based Lashkar terrorist handler ‘Abdullah Ghazi’ across the border. Keeping these things in mind, the search was carefully planned, and the investigation of this terrorist recruitment/funding module of the Jaish-e-Mohammed / Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization was carried forward by CIK. The investigation also revealed that this module was operating from a known city in Pakistan. It was identified by examining the server of the encrypted messaging application.

The terrorist commander/handler was in constant touch with these local Kashmiri youth. He was allegedly trying to radicalize them for recruitment in terrorist groups. The terrorist handler/commander is collaborating with the ISI of Pakistan

CIK officials said that during the search, a large amount of documentary evidence and digital devices related to the investigation of the case were seized. So far, 10 suspects have been apprehended. The data will be analyzed, and the clues that emerge will form the basis for further investigation.

It is pertinent to mention here that the main objective of this campaign is to save the precious lives and careers of local Kashmiri youth from falling prey to the designs of terrorist organizations. Apart from this, by exposing important evidence, curbing illegal activities, and preventing misuse of communication devices like mobile phones.
