Afghanistan postpones ODI series with Pakistan, focus on the mental health of players. The ODI series between Pakistan and Afghanistan to be held next month has been postponed.

Ever since the Taliban took over Afghanistan, there was constant apprehension about this series. It has been decided to postpone this series to be played in Sri Lanka for the time being.

The Afghanistan team was not able to travel due to the prevailing situation in the country, due to which its event had to be postponed.

This 3-match series was to be held in Sri Lanka but now it has been postponed. On Monday, it was reported that it would be done in Pakistan instead of Sri Lanka.

A 10 key lockdown has been imposed in Sri Lanka and the Afghanistan team is currently not able to travel by air.

Hamid Shenwari, executive officer of ACB, said, “Keeping in mind the much discussion and the mental health of the players, we have taken a decision together to postpone this series against Pakistan.”

Due to the Taliban’s occupation of Afghanistan, no business travel from Kabul is possible at this time. The Afghanistan team was to leave for Sri Lanka via Dubai to play the ODI series.

The team had to go to Pakistan via road from where all the players had to go to Dubai.

It was not possible to travel due to the situation created in the country and after considering all the things, it was finally postponed from this series.
