Akasa Air Starts Flights On Bengaluru-Mumbai Route

Akasa Air starts flights on the Bengaluru-Mumbai route and expects more than 150 weekly flights by September’s end.

Airline company Akasa Air is expecting to operate more than 150 weekly flights by the end of September.

The company started flight service on the Bangalore-Mumbai route on Friday. The airline started operations on August 7.

Now the flight is providing service on three routes, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Bengaluru-Kochi, and Bengaluru-Mumbai route.

At present, the airline will operate two flights a day on the Bangalore-Mumbai route. The company said in a release, “It will later expand operations on the Bangalore-Mumbai route.

Under this, one additional daily flight will start on August 30, 2022, and another flight will start on September 19, 2022.

The airline will also start flight services on the route connecting Bengaluru to Chennai from September 10. Akasa Air said it expects the number of weekly flights to exceed 150 by the end of September.

The company has so far announced flights on six routes to five cities, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

At present, the airline has three aircraft. It plans to add one new aircraft every two weeks and will have 18 aircraft in its fleet by the end of March 2023.

“The company is financially strong enough”.

It is noteworthy that after the death of Akasa Air’s principal investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, the airline’s chief executive officer (CEO) Vinay Dubey had said on August 17 that the new airline was financially sound enough to place orders for the company and aircraft.

The company has also clarified in a way with this announcement that Akasa will not be affected. This new airline will continue to grow according to its plan.

The flight starts this month.

Akasa Air received the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from aviation regulator DGCA in early July.

Akasa Air also received the delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft on 21 June. After that, the company started its service in August.
