America Deploys Submarines and F-35 Jets
America Deploys Submarines: The US has deployed F-35 fighter jets, submarines, and warships near Venezuela, citing action against Latin American drug cartels. President Maduro rejects the allegations, calling it a threat of invasion.
Why is America Increasing Military Strength Near Venezuela?
The US-Venezuela tensions have escalated after the United States increased its military presence near the South American nation. Officially, Washington says the move is aimed at tackling Venezuela drug cartel allegations, but political observers see it as a pressure tactic against President Nicolás Maduro.
US President Donald Trump announced that American forces recently destroyed a boat allegedly carrying drugs, killing 11 people. This claim has fueled speculation about possible Venezuela invasion fears and worsened already-strained ties between Washington and Caracas.
What Has Been Deployed?
The US military buildup in Latin America has been significant. The Pentagon has deployed 10 advanced F-35 fighter jets near Venezuela, stationed in Puerto Rico for potential operations against drug cartels. Alongside them, several US submarines in the Caribbean and powerful missile destroyer ships have joined the mission.
In total, more than 4,000 US Marines and naval personnel are part of this operation. Navy Chief Admiral Darrell Caudle said his job is to provide military options to the President and the Secretary of Defense, but he did not specify the ultimate goal of this deployment.
Responding to the US military buildup, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro rejected all drug cartel allegations, calling them “false and fabricated.” He emphasized that Venezuela does not cultivate coca and remains free from drug production.
Maduro accused Washington of using “fake claims” as a pretext for aggression:
“More than 90% of Venezuelans reject these threats. Our country is not afraid of invasion.”
He also urged citizens to join the militia, claiming that over 4.5 million Venezuelans are ready to defend the nation. However, independent experts argue that the actual number is much lower.
Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado supported the Donald Trump administration’s stance, stating, “The time for change has come.” She alleged that the government’s militia recruitment has failed and criticized Maduro’s leadership.
Still, analysts caution that the opposition’s reliance on US-Venezuela tensions and hopes of direct US military intervention could further destabilize the country and mislead the public.
The deployment of F-35 fighter jets near Venezuela, US submarines in the Caribbean, and thousands of Marines has global implications. While Washington frames the move as part of its fight against drug cartels, many see it as a broader US military buildup in Latin America to pressure the Maduro government.
The world now closely monitors this crisis as US vs Venezuela tensions continue to mount, raising questions about the future of stability in the Caribbean and South America.
