Ancestral properties of Exiled Kashmiri Hindus to be restored: Displaced Kashmiri Hindus.

GOI said that ancestral properties started being returned to the exiled Kashmiri Hindus.

The government is taking steps to restore the ancestral properties of Kashmiri Hindu migrants who have left the state due to terrorist violence.

So far nine properties have been handed back to their original owners. This information was given to Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said that under the Jammu and Kashmir Overseas Immovable Property (Protection, Protection, and Prohibition of Distress Sale) Act, 1997.

District magistrates of the respective districts in Jammu and Kashmir are the legal custodians of immovable property.

They take suo motu cognizance of eviction proceedings in cases of encroachment on the property of migrants. Migrants can also request DM themselves in such cases.

So far nine properties handed over to their original owners.

In a written reply to a question, he said that as per the information provided by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.

Rai said that as per the information given by the Jammu and Kashmir government, after the abrogation of Article 370, a total of 520 migrants have returned to Kashmir to take up jobs under the Prime Minister’s Development Package-2015.

all the provisions of the Constitution have been extended to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This requires changes in the existing laws in J&K through adaptation orders.

He said that in accordance with the adapted land laws of Jammu and Kashmir, the government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, permit the transfer of land for public purposes such as education, health care, and charitable purposes.
