Anil Deshmukh’s lawyer arrested, sent to Delhi on transit remand: 100 Crore Recovery Case.
The lawyer of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has been arrested by the CBI. He has been brought to Delhi on transit remand.
So far, two people, including a sub-inspector of CBI, have been arrested in this case. Both the arrested persons will be produced in a competent court.
Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh’s lawyer Anand Daga was being questioned before his arrest. Last week, a new case was registered regarding the leak of a preliminary inquiry report.
Where the investigating officer had recommended closure of the investigation against Deshmukh and said that he had committed “no cognizable offense”.
The investigation revealed that the camp of Anil Deshmukh had tried to influence the investigation by contacting the officials of the agency.
The agency had initially questioned Deshmukh’s son-in-law after the leak of the investigation report in this case.
Last week, after reports of registration of a case against Deshmukh against the recommendations of the Investigating Officer, the agency said that the case was filed in response to a High Court order.
According to the information received, the closure of the case was only “the recommendation of the IO while the supervisory officers of the case of the rank of Superintendent of Police and above asked to register an FIR in the matter.”
Anil Deshmukh’s lawyer arrested: Anil Deshmukh stepped down in April, citing moral grounds, after former Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh accused him of corruption.
Not only Anil Deshmukh, the gathering of leaders became a network of people in Maharashtra; Khadse and Nawab Malik’s son-in-law were also in discussion.
There is a proverb in Maharashtra – Jamato Dasam Graha. That is, the tenth planet that gives more pain than the inverted planets sitting in the horoscope is often the son-in-law.
The same proverb seems to be being applied to many politicians of Maharashtra. Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh is already in trouble.
He is accused of extorting Rs 100 crore every month through the officials of Maharashtra Police.
The CBI is investigating the case on the orders of the High Court. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also probing Deshmukh and his close associates in a money laundering case related to the same episode.
The ED has attached assets worth more than 400 crores of his family and arrested his aides. Now Deshmukh also seems to be in new trouble because of his son-in-law Gaurav Chaturvedi.
