Army Chief Reached Ladakh To Take Stock Of Border

Army Chief reached Ladakh to take stock of the border with China and reviewed the operational preparedness.

Army Chief General Manoj Pandey reached Ladakh on Thursday amid the ongoing military standoff with China. He reviewed the security situation and the operational preparedness of the Army.

General Pandey has come on a three-day visit. This is General Pandey’s first visit to Ladakh after becoming the Army Chief.

The army chief will visit the forward areas of eastern Ladakh to take stock of the ground situation and encourage the soldiers.

General Pandey was briefed on the operational preparedness of the Army in Eastern Ladakh by Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Northern Command of the Army.

Lt Gen A Sen Gupta, GOC of the Army’s Fire and Fury Corps was also present. He inspected the modern weapons inducted into the army fleet in Ladakh.

On the first day of the Ladakh tour, the Army Chief met the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh RK Mathur at the Raj Niwas in Leh.

Army Commander of Northern Command and Corps Commander of Fire and Fury Corps were also present. Pandey briefed the Lieutenant Governor about the security situation in Ladakh.

The Lieutenant Governor appreciated the cooperation given by the army to the people in remote areas.

Along with this, the Army Commander also participated in the meeting held in Leh on the issue of civil, and military cooperation.

Along with the discussion on the issue of coordination in the army administration, the role being played by the army in accelerating the development in Ladakh was also discussed.

The Army Chief will also oversee the preparations being made to face China in the forward areas of Eastern Ladakh on Friday.

Will discuss all aspects in detail with the top commanders of the army.

Pandey’s visit to Ladakh as the Chief of the Army Staff has boosted the morale of the soldiers serving in challenging conditions in the region.

Massacre of Kashmiri Hindus:

March 20, 1997: Sangramapora massacre: Eight Kashmiri Hindus were kidnapped and gunned down by terrorists on the night of Naoroj.

Of these, seven had died, while one Ashok Kumar survived despite being injured.

The seven Kashmiri Hindus killed were Bhushan Lal, Pyare Lal, Sanjay Bhatt, Vijay Bhatt, Avtar Krishna Pandit, Trilokinath Bhatt, and Dilip Bhatt.

After this massacre, all Kashmiri Hindus fled from Sangrampora. Many reached Jammu and some took shelter in Budgam.

These families were later settled in the transit colony set up at Sheikhpora, Budgam. Rahul Bhatt was also originally a resident of Sangramapora.

Rahul was about 10 years old at the time of the Sangramapora massacre.

March 23, 2003: Nadimarg massacre: At night, 24 Kashmiri Hindus, including two children, were gunned down by terrorists at Nadimarg in Shopian.

January 25, 1998: Wandhama Massacre: In Ganderbal’s Wandhama, terrorists brutally massacred 23 Kashmiri Hindus at night.
