The Assam Police said on Friday that it had received information that the ULFA (Independent) was involved in the kidnapping of three ONGC employees earlier this week and that 14 members of the organization and its sympathizers have been arrested so far in this regard.

According to the release issued by the Assam Police, there is confirmed information that the kidnapping ULFA (I) has carried out at the behest of the organization’s self-land major Ganesh Lahoun, Pooram Lahoun, and his associates Adyamal Asom, Maniram.

Police said that efforts are being made to bring them safely without causing any harm to the employees. The 14 arrested have allegedly directly and indirectly helped the ULFA (I).

Superintendents of Police of all 10 districts of Upper Assam have been asked to review the security of the OIL and ONGC unit located in their respective areas, especially to pay special attention to the plants located in remote areas.
