Army Well Trained, Ready For Every Situation: ITBP Director

Army well trained, ready for every situation- ITBP Director General SS Deswal.

Outgoing Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) SS Deswal said that their force is well trained and always ready to defend our international border under all circumstances.

The ITBP primarily guards the 3,488-km-long India-China border against the Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jaachep La in Arunachal Pradesh.

Deswal retired as the Director-General of ITBP on Tuesday. He said in the conversation that whether there is an agreement or not, we walk on the border according to the needs.

India is a law-abiding country. We respect our bilateral agreements. We have never violated our bilateral agreements, the promises we made to our neighbors.

We always respect our neighbors. But we are always ready to defend our border under all circumstances.

Army well trained, ready for every situation: Responding to a question that there is a policy of not using firearms on the India-China border.

If the Chinese attack the Indian side in such a situation, what will India do, he said as long as our bilateral agreements are respected, we will respect, we are ready for any situation when the need arises.

On India-China confrontation points, he said such border issues across the world take a long time to be resolved.

Our efforts as a whole, the strength of the forces, the diplomatic strength, our economic strength, the total collective forces of the country are at work and efforts are being made to find a way out of the dialogue.

Time is not as important in this matter as we claim. We have to move our conversation forward so that at the end of the conversation, our claims are with us.

The armies of India and China have already withdrawn from the banks of Pangong Lake after extensive talks. The Gogra Heights and Hot Springs areas are yet to be resolved.

These have become new conflict points after the Chinese invasion last year. In June last year, 20 Indian soldiers were killed in violent clashes with Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley.

Deswal told that he is retiring after 37 years of service. He served in the Haryana Police for 27 years and has been serving the Government of India for ten years.
