Arrest those who encroach on temple lands under the Goonda Act, Big order of Madras High Court.

The Madras High Court on Wednesday directed the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of Tamil Nadu to issue a public notification.

The public notification should be issued on calling upon encroachers of temple properties across the state to voluntarily surrender land within a stipulated period.

The court directed the department to specifically mention in the notification that if the encroachers do not voluntarily surrender the temple properties within the prescribed time limit.

Arrest those who encroach on temple lands: They should be arrested under criminal proceedings under the Goondas Act.

Justice S Subramaniam said in the order that the state government, the Hindu Religious, and Charitable Endowments Department, and the DGP will not hesitate to invoke the Goondas Act against those who grab such lands.

He clarified that action should be initiated against the encroachers under the Goondas Act as per the facts concerning encroachment.

Not only this, but the court has also ordered the formation of a special cell to retrieve the properties of the encroached temples.

Cases increased again in Kerala.

At the same time, more than 50 percent of the cases in the country are coming from Kerala. On Thursday morning, 17,681 new cases of the corona were reported from Kerala.

208 more patients died of the pandemic. With this, the total cases increased to 44 lakh 24 thousand 46 and the death toll reached 22,987.

The infection rate here is more than 18 percent. At the same time, 22,182 new cases have been reported in Kerala on Thursday evening. 26,563 people are recovering and 178 people have died.

Rapid vaccination

Talking about the weekly positivity rate in the country, it is 1.93 percent. It is below 3 percent for the last 83 days. The daily positivity rate is 1.94 percent which is down from 3 percent for the last 17 days.

In the last 24 hours, 64,51,423 people were vaccinated. So far a total of 76,57,17,137 vaccinations have been done.
