Artemis Moon Mission Launch: NASA launches the Artemis-1 Moon mission, and the rocket takes off.
NASA’s new moon rocket made its maiden flight with three test dummies on board early Wednesday, marking a major step toward taking astronauts to the Moon for the first time since America’s Apollo program 50 years ago.
If all goes well during the three-week make-or-break shakedown flight, the rocket will propel an empty crew capsule into a wide orbit around the Moon and then land the capsule with a splashdown over the Pacific in December.
American Space Agency NASA has launched its Moon mission ‘Artemis-1’ once again after about one and a half months.
Let us inform you that this launching took place today i.e. November 16 from Kennedy Space Center in Florida between 11.34 am to 1.34 pm.
This was NASA’s third attempt. Earlier, an attempt was made to launch the rocket on August 29 and September 3 as well, but it was postponed due to a technical glitch.
At Sunday’s press briefing, Artemis mission manager Mike Sarafin said Hurricane Nicole, which recently hit Florida, loosened a part of the spacecraft.
Due to this, there may be a problem during lift-off. That’s why our team is reviewing this problem.
If for some reason the rocket is not launched on 16th November, then the new date can be 19th or 25th November.
Artemis Moon Mission Launch: What is NASA’s Artemis-1 Moon Mission?
America is preparing to send humans to the moon once again after 53 years through its Moon Mission Artemis. Artemis-1 is the first step in this direction.
This is a test flight for the main mission, in which no astronaut will be sent. With this flight, scientists aim to know whether the conditions around the moon are suitable for astronauts.
Also, whether the astronauts will be able to return safely to the earth after going to the moon.
NASA’s ‘Space Launch System (SLS) Megarocket’ and ‘Orion Crew Capsule’ will reach the Moon. Astronauts usually live in the crew capsule, but this time it will be empty.
This mission is of 42 days, 3 hours, and 20 minutes, after which it will return to Earth. The spacecraft will travel a total distance of 20 lakh 92 thousand 147 km.
Mission has failed many times.
Let us inform you that a few days back NASA had to withdraw its much-awaited mission Artemis-1 mission. NASA has decided to postpone this mission and send it back to the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB).

What is Artemis’ mission? Understand here.
Jack Burns, a professor, and scientist at the University of Colorado Boulder says that the Artemis-1 rocket is ‘heavy lift’ and has the most powerful engines ever built.
It will go up to the orbit of the moon, release some small satellites, and then will be established in the orbit.
Let us tell you that there is a plan to launch Artemis-2 around 2024. Some astronauts will also go on this, but they will not step on the moon.
They will come back only after roaming in the orbit of the moon. Although the duration of this mission will be longer. At present, the confirmed list of Astronauts has not been revealed.
After this, the final mission Artemis-3 will be dispatched. Astronauts going in it will land on the surface of the moon.
This mission can be launched around 2025 or 2026. For the first time, women will also be a part of the Human Moon Mission.
According to Burns, a Person of Color (a person of a different race than white) will also be a crew member. They will do research on the water and ice present at the Moon’s South Pole.
How much does the Artemis mission cost?
According to an audit by the NASA Office of the Inspector General, from 2012 to 2025, the project will cost $93 billion (Rs 7,434 billion).
At the same time, each flight will cost 4.1 billion dollars i.e. 327 billion rupees. So far 37 billion dollars i.e. 2,949 billion rupees have been spent on this project.
Will stream on NASA’s media platform.
The Artemis mission launch is also live-streamed on NASA’s media platforms—NASA Television, the agency’s website, and the NASA app, and its social media handles Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
