ATC of Bengaluru Police probing illegal Telephone Exchange. The game of converting international into local call was going on in Bangalore, Bangalore ATC busted the gang.

The Anti-Terrorist Unit (ATC) of Bengaluru Police probing illegal telephone exchange operations has so far unearthed 109 SIM box devices in which 3,000 SIM cards were being used.

Through these, international phone calls were converted into local phone calls using the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

This not only caused financial loss to the Department of Telecommunications, but also put the security of the country at risk.

Giving this information on Monday, the police said that since most of the calls were from West Asia, the payment was also done there.

This money was brought here through hawala.

In fact, the Bengaluru Police had earlier said that it had uncovered six illegal telephone exchanges in which 960 SIM cards were being used in 30 SIM boxes.

But now it has updated the number of sim box and sim card. Ibrahim Pulatti and Gautam Viswanathan were arrested for planting SIM boxes at various places in the city.

According to the police, those arrested recently include Muhammad Basheer, 51, and Anees Atthimanneel, 30, residents of Malappuram in Kerala, Santhan Kumar, 29, residents of Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu, Suresh Thangavelu, 32, and Jai Ganesh, 30.

They were part of a gang run by Malappuram resident main conspirator Ibrahim and Tamil Nadu-based telephone exchange operator Gautam.

Police said, ‘This gang had installed 109 SIM boxes with a capacity of 3,000 SIM cards at six places. Apart from causing damage to the telecom department, he also put the security of the country at risk.

According to police, Santhan Kumar was a sales executive in a mobile service provider company that used to send SIM cards through Suresh and Jai Ganesh.

He used to collect SIM cards in the name of the people he contacted for getting new SIM cards. For this he used to fraudulently take their fingerprints and send the SIM to Bangalore through his associates.

The police did not give details of the other gang members, a hawala trader, a resident of Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada district.
