The Anti-Terrorist Unit (ATC) of Bengaluru Police probing illegal telephone exchange operations has so far unearthed 109 SIM box devices in which 3,000 SIM cards were being used.

This not only caused financial loss to the Department of Telecommunications, but also put the security of the country at risk.

Giving this information on Monday, the police said that since most of the calls were from West Asia, the payment was also done there.

This money was brought here through hawala.

In fact, the Bengaluru Police had earlier said that it had uncovered six illegal telephone exchanges in which 960 SIM cards were being used in 30 SIM boxes.

But now it has updated the number of sim box and sim card. Ibrahim Pulatti and Gautam Viswanathan were arrested for planting SIM boxes at various places in the city.

Police said, ‘This gang had installed 109 SIM boxes with a capacity of 3,000 SIM cards at six places. Apart from causing damage to the telecom department, he also put the security of the country at risk.

According to police, Santhan Kumar was a sales executive in a mobile service provider company that used to send SIM cards through Suresh and Jai Ganesh.

He used to collect SIM cards in the name of the people he contacted for getting new SIM cards. For this he used to fraudulently take their fingerprints and send the SIM to Bangalore through his associates.
