Bagalkot Flood: River Krishna Is Overflowing

Bagalkot Flood: The river Krishna is overflowing and floods have increased in villages along the banks of the river after 1.85 lakh cusecs of water released into Krishna River. Increased flooding in Bagalkot has effected the crops in the fields, which is fully aquatic. People living in the lowlands and fields are being requested to move to safer places.

Heavy rains have been pouring in Maharashtra for four days. Rainfall has also increased in Belgaum district, the Orange Alert announced by the Met Department. Thus, 1.85 lakh cusecs of water are flowing into the Krishna River. This has caused flooding in many districts of North Karnataka.

Floods have been on the rise in Banahatti and Jamakhandi taluk of Bagalkot district. An estimated 1.85 lakh cusecs of water is flowing into the Hipparagai reservoir, which has caused an uproar in the villages of Muttur, Myogur, Shurpali and Kankanawadi villages in Jamakhandi taluk. Farmers are trying to move pump sets from the river bank to safer places.

Other crops, including river character cane, are fully aquatic. The villagers of the river character have been requested to move to safer places. The river Krishna is overflowing and the flood characterization has increased in the villages of the river character. People living in the lowlands and fields are being requested to move to safer places.

Heavy rains in Maharashtra have increased the anxiety of floods along the banks of River Krishna. Rainfall in the Belgaum is also flooding the rivers of Raichur, Bagalkot, Haveri, Yadagiri, Vijayapura, and Dharwad districts. A Yellow Alert was issued today due to heavy rainfall expected in the districts of North Karnataka, Belgaum, Haveri, Bidar, and Kalaburgi.

The Ghataprabha river is high in the Bagalkot district. Water is pumped into farmhouses and pump sets are aquatic. The water is encircling the village of Nandgaonwa, the character of the Ghataprabha river. This has caused a lot of anxiety for the villagers, including sugar cane, turmeric, and onions. Anxiety is continuing in villages near the Ghataprabha river in Mudhola taluk.

The inflow has also increased in the Malaprabha River in North Karnataka. The Malaprabha River is inundated with water from the Govanakoppa village of Badami Taluk. More than 20 homes surround the water. The villagers are horrified by this. Authorities have moved to evacuate people in homes surrounded by water.
