Big action of CID in Karnataka PSI recruitment scam case, ADGP rank IPS officer arrested.

The Karnataka Crime Investigation Department on Monday arrested an ADGP rank officer in the Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment Scam case.

According to police sources, ADGP Amrit Paul, who was arrested when the scam came to light in April this year, was the head of the recruitment cell.

This IPS officer was transferred to the post of ADGP, Internal Security Division after large-scale irregularities came to the fore in this recruitment.

According to sources, the mark list of fake candidates was allegedly tampered with in the recruitment department itself and Amrit Paul was allegedly aware of these incidents.

The Karnataka CID arrested the ADGP after questioning them at least four times. The scam first surfaced in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi district, when a candidate’s OMR sheet was posted on social media.

The big action of CID in Karnataka: It was shown that he had passed the exam despite answering only 21 questions out of 100.

There was outrage among the candidates regarding the manner in which the police sub-inspector recruitment examination was conducted.

The police registered a case against the candidate and the person who put his OMR seat on social media.

In connection with the investigation of the said case, the arrest of BJP leader and owner of ‘Gyan Jyoti English Medium School’ in Kalaburagi Divya Hagaragi, Principal Kashinath, and other employees took place.

A few other police personnel, including the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Inspector, Sub-Inspector, Constable, and an MLA’s guard, were arrested in the case.

Around 70 people including 40 ‘selected’ candidates, agents, examination center staff, and police have been arrested so far in connection with this recruitment scam.

Each suspected candidate involved in the PSI recruitment scam had allegedly paid a bribe of Rs 70 lakh to get the job.

It is noteworthy that the recruitment process started in October 2021 to fill 545 posts of Sub-Inspector in Karnataka Police.

After discovering the scam, the state government canceled this recruitment and ordered a fresh recruitment examination.
