On 21 January, the RT-PCR test confirmed her covid was infected and admitted to BMCRI for treatment.

She was serving a sentence of four years in the disproportionate assets case of Parapanna Agrahara prison and now Sasikala was officially released on 27 January. After the release of the leader, his supporters celebrated in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
