While three militants were killed in Tral during a brief encounter last Friday evening, two militants hiding in the Lelhar area of ​​the same district surrendered early today during an ongoing encounter.

Confirming the surrender of the militants, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that the two were linked to the Hizbul Mujahideen.

Two AK-47 rifles and other ammunition have also been recovered from these terrorists. Last Friday evening, the police received information that some militants were hiding in the Lelhar area of ​​Pulwama district of South Kashmir.

On the basis of the information, a joint team of Army, SOG, and CRPF jawans reached the spot and started a search operation while sieging the area.

Seeing the security forces approaching, the terrorists started firing on the security forces. Seeing the darkness, the security forces completely surrounded the house where the terrorists were hiding.

During this time special arrangements of lights were also made so that the terrorists do not flee by taking advantage of the darkness.

It is being told that the whole night there was intermittent firing from both sides. Meanwhile, a terrorist was injured by security forces’ bullet.

Today, once again, the security forces asked the two terrorists to surrender, citing relatives. This time the terrorists accepted this and both the terrorists came out of the house putting up their arms.

IGP Vijay Kumar, while addressing the journalists after the three terrorists killed at the hands of security forces in Tral last Friday, informed that the terrorist organizations are now joining the local youth through social media.

He also said that it is his endeavor to bring back the local youth on the wrong path to the mainstream. During the encounter, they are given repeated opportunities to surrender.
