Two Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were gunned down by security forces in South Kashmir’s Kulgam on Saturday evening, ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s proposed rally in Palli Panchayat on Sunday.
The security forces are still continuing the operation against their two other hiding accomplices. The slain terrorists have been identified as Sultan Pathan and Zabiullah, both residents of Pakistan.
Both these terrorists were active in Kulgam and Shopian districts since 2018.
Two AK rifles, 7 AK magazines, 9 grenades, and other incriminating material have been recovered from their possession.
According to the information received, the police came to know from their system on Saturday afternoon that a team of JeM terrorists is hiding in Mirahama falling in the Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
These terrorists were preparing to carry out a conspiracy to attack a particular establishment in Kulgam.
Police along with Army and CRPF personnel conducted a search operation in Mirahama to nab the terrorists.
When the security forces tried to move forward in the village while laying siege around 4 o’clock in the evening, the terrorists hiding in a house tried to escape by breaking the siege.
They also opened fire on the soldiers. The soldiers, defending themselves, thwarted the terrorists’ plan by retaliatory fire.
The security forces also asked the terrorists to surrender, but they continued firing. Till the time of writing the news, two terrorists had been killed.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that two Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists have been killed in the ongoing encounter in Mirhama.
The campaign against his other accomplices is on. He said that before the Prime Minister’s Palli Panchayat rally, these terrorists were about to carry out some major incident in Kashmir.
A major terrorist conspiracy has been foiled by the alertness of the security forces.
Earlier on Friday, two suicide terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammed were killed by the security forces in Jalalabad Sunjwa, Jammu. They too had come to disturb the Prime Minister’s rally.
