Jammu Kashmir News: On Thursday, Army soldiers foiled an infiltration attempt by terrorists in Machhal (Kupwara) sector on the Line of Control in North Kashmir.

They killed two terrorists in the encounter. Military operations have been continued against other infiltrators. This is the second incident of infiltration in North Kashmir in the last one week.

Earlier on Sunday, Army soldiers had foiled an infiltration attempt and killed two terrorists in Uri sector.

The concerned officials said that the security agencies had already come to know through their system that a group of terrorists were looking for an opportunity to infiltrate along the Line of Control in Kupwara.

On the basis of this, the army had increased vigil in all the forward areas considered sensitive from infiltration point of view.

The soldiers patrolling early today saw infiltration.

A joint task force comprising soldiers of 56 RR and 53 Brigade of the Army, patrolling the Sardari Nad area in Machhal sector in the early hours of Thursday, spotted the infiltrators entering Indian territory.

They took their position at the same time and alerted the nearby posts. The soldiers challenged the intruders and asked them to surrender.

Firing took place from both sides, two terrorists killed.

As soon as they heard the call of the soldiers, the terrorists started running back towards Pakistan Occuiped Kashmir.

They fired at the soldiers to divert their attention and stop them from pursuing them. The soldiers retaliated to save themselves.

After this firing started from both sides. Two terrorists were killed in this. The operation to kill other terrorists is continuing.
