BSF Will Get Special Guns To Shoot Down Pakistan’s Drones

BSF will get a special gun to shoot down Pakistan’s drones, will target from afar. The days of Pakistani drones becoming a security challenge for India are few.

The Border Security Force will be equipped with anti-drone guns very soon to completely stop their explosion on the border.

These special guns are very effective in shooting down drones. This information was given by an official of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

A Home Ministry official said that a Qualitative Requirements Draft (QRS) has been sent by the BSF in this regard.

Bids have been invited from vendors and potential manufacturers to ensure the market availability of this special gun.

A senior BSF officer said, these handheld anti-drone guns will be very useful for the patrolling teams in the border areas, who sometimes see drones flying, but cannot do much as they are out of their firing range.

The BSF has mentioned in detail in its QRS what features are needed in the anti-drone gun. This year more than 60 reports of drone sightings were received near Punjab.

In many cases, even information was not available. Drones are used by Pakistan on the Punjab Jammu and Kashmir border for drug smuggling and to drop explosives and small arms.

Intelligence agencies have alerted security forces about the drone capabilities of terror groups across the border and even in Naxal areas.

A senior BSF officer said that they shot down several types of drones last year. Some drones (hexacopters) can carry more weight.

Their controller sits across the border and serves their purpose without crossing the Line of Control.

Made in China drones are advanced in technology and their memory is remotely deleted. They can never get a clue from it.

The BSF official said the entire border cannot be covered under anti-drone devices. But anti-drone guns taken hand-in-hand with patrols can help detect and bring down drones.
