S Jaishankar in Washington DC: Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is on a ten-day visit to America these days. On 29 September, Jaishankar addressed a press conference in Washington DC.

During this, Jaishankar was asked about the concerns of the Sikh community amid the Khalistan issue, in response to which the Foreign Minister said that this issue does not represent the views of the entire community.

He said that those who talk about terrorism represent only a few people.

Jaishankar said that everyone knows how much attention the Modi government has paid to the issues of the Sikh community in the last 10 years and what suggestions it has given.

On the question asked by the media, Jaishankar said, ‘I do not believe that what is being discussed right now is the representative issues of the entire community (Sikhs).

People who talk about terrorism, separatist people, whose arguments involve violence, it is a minority.

The concerned governments should take impartial action. We should not consider this a matter of the entire community.

What did Jaishankar say about the ongoing dispute with Canada?

On the ongoing dispute with Canada, Jaishankar said that the ongoing problem with Canada has been persisting for some years due to the government’s ‘permissiveness’ regarding terrorism, extremism, and violence in the country.

He said the fact is that we have had an ongoing problem with Canada and the Canadian government for the last few years and the current problem really revolves around permission with respect to terrorism, extremism, and violence.

Jaishankar said that in fact, there are individuals and organizations who are clearly involved in violence and illegal activities in India, who have themselves declared this and this is not hidden from anyone.

Canada’s accusation, India’s reaction.

It is noteworthy that last week, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had alleged that the Indian government was involved in the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

However, India has rejected the claims and termed them as ‘absurd’ and ‘motivated’. At the same time, Canada has not yet presented any public evidence to India to support the claim of the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

In view of the increasing dispute between the two countries, India has suspended its visa services in Canada.

Apart from this, India has advised its citizens and people traveling to Canada to exercise caution.
