Carlos Alcaraz won US Open 2022 title by defeating Casper Rood. 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz won the US Open 2022 title, and also became the world’s number 1 player.

Spain’s 19-year-old tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has won the title match of the US Open 2022. The Spanish player defeated Casper Rood of Norway 6-4, 2-6, 7-6, 6-3 in the men’s singles final.

The match lasted for 3 hours and 20 minutes. A crucial moment came in the third set when Alcarez was serving 5-6 behind and Rood got two set points.

Alcarez not only saved both the set points but also won the set in the tiebreaker. Alcarez did much better in the tiebreaker and took a 2-1 lead. He won the fourth set easily and won the match and the title.

This match was held by closing the roof of Arthur Ashe Stadium between rain and 26 degree Celsius temperature.

With this victory, Alcaraz has also become the world’s number one tennis player. This is Alcaraz’s 51st tour-level win this season.

Carlos Alcaraz has become the youngest player after Pete Sampras to win the US Open title. Sampras became the youngest champion in 1990.

At the same time, after the legendary Rafael Nadal, Alcaraz was successful in winning the Grand Slam title, the second youngest from Spain.

Nadal won the French Open title in 2005. Apart from this, Alcaraz is the fourth player from Spain to become world number one after his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, Carlos Moya, and Rafael Nadal.

Casper Roode could not overcome the Spanish barrier

The 23-year-old Norwegian player, Casper Rood, entered the final of a Grand Slam competition for the second time in the year 2022.

He lost to Rafael Nadal in the final of the French Open in June. Roode is still waiting for his first Grand Slam title.

US Open 2022: John Pierce-Storm Sanders pair win US Open mixed doubles title.

John Pierce and Storm Sanders have won the US Open Mixed Doubles title.

In the final, the Australian pair won 4-6, 6-4 10-7 over Belgium’s Kirsten Flipkens and France’s douard Roger-Vasselin. This is the first Australian pair to win the US Open Mixed Doubles title since 2001.

Playing at Arthur Ashe Stadium, it was the Pierce-Sanders pair’s first Grand Slam title as a team. Pierce had earlier won the men’s doubles title at the 2017 Australian Open.
