A case has been registered against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Annamalai, former national secretary H. Raja and more than five thousand people.

According to a police official, the case has been registered for protesting and marching toward the state secretariat in Chennai on Tuesday demanding a reduction in petrol and diesel prices without permission.

BJP workers along with Annamalai marched towards the Secretariat in Chennai. Annamalai condemned the state government for not reducing taxes on petrol and diesel.

He said that the DMK had promised in its manifesto that they would reduce the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 4 respectively.

Malali Masjid controversy has taken a new turn in the Dakshina Kannada district.

The mosque management on Tuesday sought dismissal of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP)’s demand in the local court.

The VHP has urged the court to appoint a court commissioner to conduct a survey of Juma Masjid in Malali town near Mangaluru.

Simultaneously, Chief Minister Bommai made a statement on the question demanding a survey of Malali Masjid along the lines of Gyanvapi Masjid in Uttar Pradesh.

He said that it would not be appropriate for him to speak on the issue as the matter is in court and the issue is being considered. The matter is to be heard on June 3.
