CBI Raids 12 Locations in Bengal

On Thursday, the CBI, which is looking into the coal smuggling case, raided 12 locations in Bengal simultaneously. From early dawn until late at night, the raids persisted.
All of the individuals whose homes or workplaces were searched are connected to Anoop Maji, also known as Lala, the primary suspect in the coal smuggling case, according to CBI sources.
Across 12 locations in Kolkata’s Bhawanipur, West Bardhaman’s Asansol, Durgapur, Kulti, Malda’s Ratua, and Purulia, CBI officers, split up into many squads, conducted raids.
Searches were conducted at the homes of Snehasish Talukdar in Asansol and Shyamal Singh in Ratua. It’s said that they are both close to Lala.
The CBI has learned that Snehasish was once in charge of Lala’s financial matters. On Thursday morning, a multi-story mansion in Bhawanipur, Kolkata, was the target of a raid.
In addition, two retired CISF officers’ homes were also searched. The CBI began looking into the coal smuggling case in 2020.
The Central Investigation Agency has inquired.
Lala is the main accused in this case. He got bail from the Supreme Court. Four people, including Gurupad Maji, considered an associate of Lala, were arrested, although three of them got bail.
Gurupad is currently lodged in Tihar jail. The Central Investigation Agency has also interrogated Trinamool National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee in the coal smuggling case.
