Cyber fraud in Japan was done from the call center
The call center operating in Varanasi was a center of the gang involved in cyber fraud in Japan. It was connected to other centers operating in the country. The youth working here used to call the people of Japan. They used to introduce themselves as technical support personnel of reputed multinational companies like Microsoft.
The callers used to say that their electronic items had a virus. To remove it, they used to ask to download an app. For this, they used to send links, which, on downloading, their system got hacked and their personal information, including bank details, reached the call center. After this, they used to transfer money from the bank accounts of the people of Japan who became victims of fraud to the bank accounts operated in India.

The work of those working in the call center was divided. One team used to make calls, the other used to download the system hacking app and get the bank details. The third team used to move money from Japanese people’s bank accounts to 2 or 3 Indian bank accounts.
The call center in Mahmoorganj has been operating since the year 2021. The main members of the international cyber fraud gang, Shubham Jaiswal, Vivek Raj, and Adarsh Kumar, used to look for young men who knew Japanese and bring them to the call center. They used to manipulate them by providing them with incorrect information. They used to pay them a salary every three months so that the young men would not leave the job. According to them, they used to pay a good amount to those who did good work so that other young men would also cooperate in their work.
In Varanasi, the primary hub for international tourists, the cyber fraud gang discovered people who spoke Japanese with ease. Because of Sarnath being the main center of Buddhism, a large number of Japanese tourists, along with Buddhists from other countries, come here. Young men who become guides learn the Japanese language to give them information about this place. These were easily found by the gang of cyber fraudsters.
Every young man who works in the call center is fluent in Japanese. Because Varanasi is directly connected to the country, cyber fraudsters made it their hideout. The role of young men from Bihar is found to be very high in cyber fraud. There were a large number of youths from Bihar in the call center raided by the CBI. Due to Bihar being connected to Varanasi, setting up a center here was beneficial for cyber thugs.
