CBI seeks approval from the Central Government for action under the ‘Central Bureau of Investigation (Official Secrets Act’ in connection with the leaking of three submarines being inducted into the Navy).

CBI seeks approval from Center for action in naval information leak case: Officials gave this information on Tuesday.

After which action was taken in the matter under the ‘Official Secrets Act’  was recommended.

The CBI said this before the court during the hearing on the bail of the accused on Tuesday.

The CBI had on November 2 filed two chargesheets in connection with the alleged leak of confidential information about two different naval projects before a special court at Rouse Avenue.

It is one of the fastest-paced investigations in defense corruption cases as the agency filed the chargesheet within 60 days of the first arrest on September 3 to ensure that the arrested accused do not get bail easily

One of the CBI chargesheets names retired Navy officers – Commodore Randeep Singh and Commander SJ Singh.

While in the second case, apart from these two, serving Commander Ajit Kumar Pandey, and three officers of Hyderabad-based Allen Reinforced Plastics Ltd – Executive Director TP Shastri and Directors NB Rao and K Chandrasekhar.

In an operation that began on September 3, the CBI had arrested six persons, including two accused retired officers, Pandey, another serving officer under him, and two private persons.

One of the detained naval officers is not named in the chargesheet and his name may be included in the supplementary chargesheet to be filed soon.
