Chinese Foreign Minister visits Russia amid Xi Jinping and Putin’s meeting and will participate in this meeting.
China’s top diplomat Wang Yi is going on a four-day visit to Russia on Monday. Regarding the visit, it is being said that during this period both the countries are expected to deepen mutual political trust.
The visit comes ahead of President Vladimir Putin’s potentially historic visit to Beijing in October.
“Wang Yi will meet with Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev for the annual security talks,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced in a statement.
According to the statement, Wang Yi is in charge of both the foreign affairs department of the ruling Communist Party and the foreign ministry.
They are also expected to lay the groundwork for Putin’s visit to the Chinese capital for the third Belt and Road Forum, following President Xi Jinping’s invitation during a high-profile visit to Moscow in March.
Putin participated in China’s first two Belt and Road Forums in 2017 and 2019.
No confirmation of Putin’s visit to China.
There is no information about his travel abroad after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against him on the grounds of illegally deporting hundreds of children from Ukraine.
On September 1, Putin said he hoped to meet Xi soon but did not explicitly confirm whether he would visit China again.
