Communist Party Founding Leader Krishna Pillai: 72 years for ‘comrade’ memories; The CPI won the right to the land of remembrance. The CPI (M) acquired the land in complete secrecy. The information was released after the land transfer in the name of Kanam Rajendran as the state secretary yesterday.

The red soil in the Vaikom temple town where Communist Party Founding Leader Krishna Pillai was born and raised now belongs to the CPI. The CPI bought 16.5 cents of land where Krishna Pillai was born and lived in Parur from his family members. The flag will be hoisted here today on the occasion of Krishna Pillai Day. The CPI (M) has decided to set up a memorial, library, and museum here to promote the Communist Party’s Kerala history.

The CPI (M) and the CPI claimed Krishnapillai’s political legacy in a highly secretive manner. The information was released after the land transfer in the name of Kanam Rajendran as the state secretary yesterday. Six months ago, CPI leaders approached me after learning that family members were selling land in Vaikom. The land is close to the Municipal Ayurveda Hospital. The house is no more. Party workers cleaned the floor and floor area yesterday.

Krishna Pillai was born in 1906 in Vaikom to Manappally Narayanan Nair and Parur Veetil Parvathy. Krishna Pillai, a coir worker in Alappuzha, died of a snake bite on August 19, 1948, at his home in Kannarkkad. The Kannarkad house was bought by the CPM and turned into a memorial. The memorial service was held here by both parties. In 1927 the Parur family parted ways. The family went to Allahabad. The party bought the land from the current heirs’ KS Suneesh, KS Kannan, and Nandini Soman.
