Conspiracy to attack on the Independence Day foiled in Manipur, 7 PLA militants arrested.
Seven armed militants of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have been arrested from different parts of Manipur ahead of Independence Day. The police gave this information on Sunday.
Thoubal district superintendent of police H Jogeshchandra told a press conference that the Assam Rifles received information on Saturday morning about a conspiracy to target government installations and security forces with explosives during the Independence Day celebrations.
He said that a joint team of Thoubal District Police and 16 Assam Rifles reached Yairipok market and cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
“Similar operations were carried out at several places in Imphal East, Imphal West, Kakching, and Thoubal districts,” he said.
Conspiracy to attack on the Independence Day: Security forces arrested seven militants and also apprehended a minor along with arms and explosives, the official said.
“After investigation, it was revealed that they were targeting non-locals in the districts of the valley, and were involved in the killing of two non-locals in Kakching and Andro Huicap in June and July respectively,” he said.
Jogeshchandra said that a nine mm pistol, Beretta pistol, 35 cartridges, and grenades were seized.
Police said that operations are on in different parts of the state ahead of the Independence Day celebrations and security has been beefed up.
Gangster Praveen Yadav was caught after encountering Delhi, police had kept a reward of 1 lakh.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested a gangster named Praveen Yadav after the encounter. Praveen shot dead a law student in the year 2021 in the Rohini area.
He has earlier been associated with gangs like Rajesh Bawania, Neetu Dabodia, and Ashok Pradhan. Delhi Police had kept a reward of one lakh on him.
According to Jasmeet Singh, DCP of Special Cell, the team of Special Cell was working for the last several days to nab the absconding gangster Praveen Yadav.
But to avoid his arrest, he was repeatedly changing his hideouts in Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi.
Inspector Shiv Kumar got special information on August 14 that Praveen Yadav would come in a Maruti Baleno car towards Mehrauli and on August 14 between 8 am and 9 am.
He would go towards Ghitorni village via Chaudhary Jagat Singh Road to meet his acquaintance.
