In the same sequence, 99 soldiers of the BSF arrested an Indian broker near the international border in the border outpost Runghat area of ​​North 24 Parganas district of Bengal while trying to bring two Bangladeshi girls into India illegally across the border.

In this way, the BSF freed both girls from the clutches of the broker and saved their lives from ruin.

South Bengal Frontier spokesperson and DIG Surjit Singh Guleria said that during interrogation it was found that there is a minor girl and there was a plan to sell her. But the BSF foiled the conspiracy.

Guleria said that BSF’s intelligence wing received information about human trafficking in the area of ​​the border outpost Runghat.

On the basis of this, the jawans launched a special ambush on the banks of the Kodila river. At night, the ambushed soldiers saw four suspects coming from Bangladesh.

As soon as they reached near the soldiers, the soldiers asked them to stop, on which they started running. But three jawans were caught by alert Jawan.

However, one person took advantage of the darkness and managed to escape back to Bangladesh.

The broker caught in the preliminary inquiry revealed his identity to Prasenjit Mandal (30), village Rajkol, thana Bagda, district North 24 Parganas, West Bengal.

At the same time, both Bangladeshi girls stated their identity as Shankari (fictitious name, age 15), District Gopalganj and Azamira (fictitious name, age 28 years), District Bagerhat, Bangladesh.

Upon further questioning, the broker admitted that he is involved in all kinds of cross-border crimes and human trafficking and makes people cross the border illegally.

He brought both Bangladeshi women for smuggling and took Rs 6,000 to get them across the border.

The minor girl told the interrogator that her father had sent her along with four unknown people (alleged touts) on the pretext of work, but she did not know where to go, what to do.

At the same time, another woman Azmira (fictitious name) told that she was coming to India to meet a friend named Babu, whose name and address are not known, but the broker has charged her 3,000 rupees to reach her friend.

Here, according to BSF DIG Gularia, the case is purely human trafficking. A minor girl is deported by her family to an undisclosed destination with unknown people in India, which appears to have been sold for illegal trade in sex trade.

Guleria says that it is often seen that Bangladeshi girls are caught by the temptation of jobs etc. in India by human traffickers and by crossing the border to India, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru.

As cities push them into the business of sex trade, he said that in the last four months so far this year, the BSF has saved the lives of many Bangladeshi girls by thwarting about 14 attempts of human trafficking.

The BSF has handed over the two Bangladeshi girls, including the arrested broker, to the police station Bagda for further legal proceedings.
