Controversial Statement Of Education Minister Of Tamil Nadu

Controversial statement by education minister of Tamil Nadu said – Hindi speakers are selling Panipuri, the English language is more valuable.

Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Ponmudi on Friday made a controversial statement saying that English as a language is more valuable than Hindi.

Trying to make fun of the language, he said that Hindi speakers are selling panipuri. The Minister said that Hindi should be made optional instead of compulsory.

A new controversy has started with this statement of the minister.

Higher Education Minister was addressing a convocation ceremony at Ponmudi Bharathiar University Coimbatore.

Sharing the stage with Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi at the function, he questioned why Hindi should be learned when English is already being taught as an international language.

He said that English and Tamil have been in vogue in Tamil Nadu for a long time and it will continue even though the students were not against learning other languages, including Hindi.

The minister said that many people said that if you learn Hindi then you will get a job. Is it so… Look here in Coimbatore who is selling Pani puri. It is they (Hindi speaking person).

Tamil Nadu at the forefront of the education system in India: Ponmudi,

Simultaneously, Minister Ponmudi claimed that Tamil Nadu is at the forefront of the education system in India and said that Tamil students are ready to learn any language.

However, Hindi should be only an optional language and not compulsory.

Students can choose any language as an option.

Noting that the state government is ready to adopt good schemes in the New Education Policy (NEP 2020).

The minister said that Hindi should not be imposed and students can choose any language as the third option, but the state will follow this system.

Alleging the imposition of Hindi through NEP 2020, he said that the Tamil Nadu government has already said that the two-language policy by mixing Tamil and English will remain in practice.
