Country to become the manufacturing hub of AC, the laptop also, PLI scheme will prove to be game-changer: DPIIT Secretary.

After mobile phones, the Country is also set to become a global hub for manufacturing devices such as AC, LED light, laptop, tablet.

The government will link the manufacturers of these sectors with the production-based incentive (PLI) scheme and this incentive will be linked to exports.

Right now these devices are mainly being imported from countries like China, Vietnam, South Korea.

Guruprasad Mahapatra, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), said that before March 31, the PLI scheme for all 10 sectors will get cabinet approval.

In the general budget presented on Monday this week, all the PLI schemes were announced to be implemented from April 1.

Mahapatra said that to make India a manufacturing hub, his department is in touch with 1,000 companies around the world who are in India or want to come to India.

The 6238 crore PLI scheme involving white goods such as AC and LDE has been approved by the Expenditure Committee of the Ministry of Finance. Through this, AC and LEDs worth 64,400 crores will be exported in five years.

At the same time, according to sources in the Ministry of IT and Electronics, a cabinet note has been prepared for the Rs 7,350 crore PLI scheme of IT hardware.

Under this, manufacturing of products like laptops, tablets will start in India. Currently, India relies on 85% import for laptops. Last year, the government announced a PLI scheme for 13 sectors.

Single window system from 15 August

Mahapatra informed that a single-window is being set up regarding the necessary clearance for the establishment of the industrial unit on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15.

Under the credit guarantee fund announced for the start-up in the budget, 3,000 units will be able to get loans of five to five crore rupees. The government will give Rs 2,000 crore to the Credit Guarantee Fund.

The implementation of the PLI scheme related to AC and LED will invest Rs 7,920 crore in five years.

Under the incremental production will be worth Rs 1,68,000 crore.

64,000 crore will be exported in five years, one lakh jobs will be created.

The direct tax of Rs 11,300 crore in five years, GST collection of Rs 38,000 crore.
