Deal Signed To Buy 70 Thousand AK-103 Rifles From Russia

Deal signed to buy 70 thousand AK-103 rifles from Russia, Indian Air Force expected to get it soon.

A special agreement has been signed between India and Russia, under which 70 thousand AK-103 assault rifles will be purchased from Russia for the Indian Air Force.

The Indian Air Force requires more than 1.5 lakh new assault rifles and the new AK-103 rifles are expected to come into service in the next few months.

Government sources told the news agency, “A contract worth around Rs 300 crore was signed last week under emergency provisions to procure 70,000 AK-103 assault rifles from Russia.”

Weapons will first be provided to the soldiers posted at sensitive air bases like Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar. The most advanced version of the AK-47 will replace the AK-103 INSAS rifles.
