Coimbatore: Police have arrested and jailed the leader of the Bharat Munnani (TNA) for making death threats to a person who posted on social media that he would break the Periyar statue in Coimbatore.

Manokaran hails from the Kalla Palayam area of ​​Coimbatore district and has been the district coordinator of the Bharat Front. He had posted on a WhatsApp group that he would break the statue of Father Periyar.

Prabhu, a real estate owner from the same area, has questioned Manokaran in this regard.

After Prabhu lodged a complaint with the Chettipalayam police, the police arrested Manokaran, the co-ordinator of the Bharat Front, and remanded him in custody.

He said that out of 39,000 streets in Chennai, only about 500 streets were rainwater catchments, of which only 58 streets were currently flooded and action would be taken to evacuate them in two or three days.
