Defence Minister will dedicate 43 bridges to the country today, which ready for the use of the Indian Army on the border. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will dedicate 43 bridges to the country today amid continuing tension with China on the Line of Actual Control.
To strengthen the infrastructure of the Indian Army, the Border Roads Organization has constructed these bridges in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
These bridges will be inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh through a video conference from Delhi. These bridges have been constructed in strategically important areas, due to which the armed forces will help in ensuring the quick movement of troops and weapons.
Of these, 10 bridges have been built in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir, 7 bridges in the Union Territory of Ladakh, while 2 bridges have been constructed in Himachal Pradesh, 4 bridges in Punjab, 8 bridges in Uttarakhand, 8 bridges in Arunachal Pradesh and 4 bridges in Sikkim.
Officials said that Rajnath Singh will also lay the foundation stone of the Nechipu tunnel on an important road in Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. In the midst of a border dispute with China, India is working on several important projects. Including a strategic road connecting Darcha in Himachal Pradesh to Ladakh.
Meanwhile, the navies of India and Australia began a two-day joint exercise in the Indian Ocean from Wednesday amid ongoing tensions with China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC). During the exercise, both armies have landed with complex naval skills, anti-aircraft drills, and a full range of helicopter operations.
This is the fourth important military drill of the Indian Navy since June. A similar naval exercise has been completed earlier with the US, Japan, and Russia. The Navy spokesman said that the objective of this exercise is to increase reciprocity, develop mutual understanding, and learn each other’s best.
The exercises will include naval strategy, surface, and anti-aircraft drills, and cross deck flying operations. According to the spokesperson, the Australian Navy has brought its Air Warfare Destroyer, HMAS Hobart, onboard as a lead ship. While India has fielded INS Sahyadri and INS Karmuk in practice.
