In a recent development, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police has successfully apprehended two interstate drug smugglers, Siyaram and Dinesh.

Seizing a substantial 3.4 kg of opium, valued at approximately Rs 1 crore, the law enforcement operation unveiled its involvement in a drug trafficking network spanning Bihar, Jharkhand, and the Delhi-NCR region.

Delhi Crime Update: The arrested individuals, hailing from Jaunpur, UP, have been operating in the illicit drug trade for the past five years.

DCP Special Cell, Pratap Singh, disclosed that Siyaram was identified as the head of an interstate drug syndicate, orchestrating the procurement of opium from Ranchi in Jharkhand and various regions in Bihar.

The contraband was then distributed to associates across multiple states, including Delhi-NCR.

Acting on intelligence gathered from informants and technological investigations, the Special Cell received information on Siyaram’s impending drug transaction near Akshardham Metro Station.

On December 3, a specialized team led by ACP Neeraj Kumar Sanjay Dutt successfully apprehended Siyaram and Dinesh as they were preparing to deliver a significant quantity of drugs to their associates.

Upon inspection of the sling bags carried by the suspects, law enforcement discovered 3.4 kg of opium, estimated to be worth one crore rupees in the international market.

The Special Cell promptly registered a case under the NDPS Act and effected the arrests. Siyaram, who had completed studies up to the sixth class, had previously been involved in the pan masala business.

Driven by financial hardship and a desire for quick gains, he turned to drug smuggling alongside accomplice Dinesh.

Siyaram confessed to procuring opium from Birsa, a resident of Jharkhand, and distributing it to contacts in Delhi-NCR and Haryana.

During interrogation, he revealed having supplied over 100 kg of opium in the past year.

Efforts are currently underway to conduct raids in Ranchi, Jharkhand, and Delhi-NCR to apprehend other members associated with this drug syndicate.
