Discussion on interstate water dispute: Karnataka Chief Minister to convene an all-party meeting in February.

The Karnataka government will convene an all-party meeting in the first week of February to discuss the water dispute. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai gave this information on Saturday.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the time has come to review the Interstate Water Disputes Act. He said that this law is creating more controversy than giving a solution.

Chief Minister Bommai said, ‘Some legal intervention has become necessary, delay in this will be very costly which is affecting our infrastructure.

Our irrigation projects are getting delayed due to the Interstate Water Disputes Act. In fact, this law creates more controversy than it solves problems.

The Chief Minister said that the system of multiple levels should be removed to resolve the inter-state water disputes in a single step.

Earlier, commenting on the long-pending issue by DMK President MK Stalin on Friday.

Basavaraj Bommai had said that they had a long discussion about the legal aspects of various court cases in respect of both the Krishna and Kaveri rivers.

The Karnataka government will hold a video conference later this month or in the first week of February to discuss the matter in detail.

Annoyed by Tamil Nadu’s pressure in the matter, Bommai said he has taken cognizance of Tamil Nadu’s claim and will hold detailed discussions with leaders of all political parties in the matter.
