Displaced Kashmiri Pandits Are Upset With Government

Displaced Kashmiri Pandits are upset with the government over the intention of charging electricity rent: Kashmiri Pandits.

There is anger among the refugees over the government’s intention to charge electricity rent from displaced Kashmiri Pandits living in Nagrota’s Jagti Migrant Camp.

Kashmiri displaced Pandits said that if such a plan is made, then the government will have to face it.

The displaced people are living in the quarters given by the government by taking ration from the government itself.

So from where will, they pay the electricity rent? Recently, the Relief Commissioner Refugees had said in the media that there is a government order that now the refugees will have to pay electricity rent.

A round of discussions has started in the camp of these displaced Kashmiri Pandits regarding this.

There are 4224 quarters of displaced Kashmiri Pandits in Jagti, where 20 thousand displaced Kashmiris are living.

In 2011 also, the government had made a plan to collect electricity rent from the displaced, but Kashmiri Pandits had come out in protest.

After this, the administration had to step back. A meeting of the Jagati Tenement Committee was also held regarding the whole matter in which the matter was discussed.

Shadi Lal Pandita, the head of the committee, says that Kashmiri Pandits are today forced to live in refugee quarters because they are uprooted from their homes.

The government has been able to rehabilitate these Kashmiri Pandits to date. This is the reason why these people are compelled to live in the quarters provided by the government.

Displaced Kashmiri Pandits are upset with the government: These people survive only on the ration received from the government.

From where will you pay the electricity rent? First Kashmiri migrants should be rehabilitated, then electricity rent should be charged from them.

RK Tikku said on the spot that the government is not doing any work in the direction of increasing the relief amount for the displaced Kashmiri Pandits.

On the contrary, it is planning to increase the expenditure on the displaced people, which will not be allowed to succeed.
