Dominic Thiem begins his ATP Finals win, defeats Stephanos Sitsipas.

Austrian tennis player Dominic Thiem defeated Greece’s Stephanos Sitipas 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 in a three-set match in the men’s singles opening match at the ATP Finals starting Sunday.

World number three Thiem made nine aces against world number six Sitsipas for two hours and 17 minutes.

However, Thiem went into the match with the intention of taking revenge against Sitsipas, who defeated the Austrian player in the final last year of the tournament.

New technology added

For the first time in the history of ATP Finals, in 2020, a video review and electronic line calling mean that the information is given through electronic devices when the ball goes out of the line.

There will be no line judges in the tournament due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and information about the ball going out of the line will be available through Hawkeye Live.

The chair umpire will monitor the entire match. Players will be able to take a review if doubts arise on other things.

Janik Sinar created history

Italian youth tennis player Janik Cinner holds the title of Sophia Open. With this, he has become the youngest player to win the ATP title in the last 12 years.

Sinner also won her first ATP title by defeating Vasek Pospisil of Canada 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 in the final.

Prior to Sinar, the youngest ATP title was won by Kei Nishikori of Japan, who won the Delray Beach Open title in 2008 at the age of 18.

Guneshwaran will face Kudla in the final

Indian tennis player Prajnesh Gunneswaran will take on Dennis Kudla of USA in the title match of the ATP Challenger event, Atlantic Tire Championship.

Guneshwaran got a walkover against Mikhail Torpegaard of Denmark in the semi-finals which led to the final.
