Eastern Army Commander visits Panagarh Military Station to take stock of security preparedness.

Lt Gen Manoj Pandey visited Panagarh Military Station recently after taking over as the new Commander (General Officer Commanding-in-Chief) of Eastern Army Command.

This was his first visit as the new commander. Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen Pandey took stock of the security preparedness here and asked the soldiers to be always ready to deal with every challenge.

A statement issued by the Eastern Command said that the new Army Commander was accorded a warm welcome by the officers on his arrival at Panagarh Military Station.

He was briefed about the operational preparedness of the Corps as well as the measures being taken to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Detailed information given in Expressing satisfaction over this, the new Army Commander stressed the need for the officers and soldiers to be always ready for any challenges during this period.

He also appreciated the excellent efforts of the Corps during natural calamities and COVID pandemic.

During the meeting with the officers, Lt Gen Pandey also took stock of the ongoing infrastructure works at the Military Station.

He also interacted with the soldiers of the Military Station during his visit and boosted their morale. Let us inform that Lt Gen Pandey has taken over the command of Eastern Army Command on June 1.

He succeeds Lt Gen Anil Chauhan who retired on May 31 after 40 years of illustrious service in the Army. Lt Gen Pandey was earlier posted as the Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command.

It is worth noting that Eastern Command is one of the most important commands of the Army, headquartered in Kolkata.

It has the responsibility of guarding the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China from the northeastern states like Sikkim and Arunachal.
