Election Commission Tightens On Violence In Bengal

Election Commission tightens on violence in Bengal, directs the Ministry of Home Affairs to deploy 71 additional companies of central forces.

The Election Commission (EC) has asked the Ministry of Home Affairs to send 71 additional companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to conduct the remaining four phases of elections in West Bengal.

Official sources said that the commission has issued instructions to the Union Home Ministry to immediately deploy these companies of security forces.

Election Commission tightens on violence in Bengal: It is believed that the Election Commission has given this order in view of several incidents of electoral violence in Bengal.

These incidents of violence also included a clash in Cooch Behar where four people were killed in firing by personnel of central forces.

Police say the central forces retaliated after the alleged attack. Till now a total of 1,000 companies were deployed to conduct peaceful elections in the state.

The CISF allegedly fired in self-defense after four people were killed in a polling booth at Sitalakuchi in the Coochbehar district on Saturday during the fourth phase of polling in Bengal.

It is alleged that the local people also tried to snatch the rifles of the CISF jawans.

After this incident, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC leaders have made serious allegations against the Central forces and Home Minister Amit Shah, opening the front, claiming the party support of the four people killed.

While Mamta called it Amit Shah’s conspiracy, Trinamool leader Dola Sen has even said that the central forces are doing injustice to the people and they have crossed the limits.

At the same time, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has issued a statement regarding this incident. In which it is stated that near booth number 126.

The CISF team led by Inspector Sunil Kumar was attacked by a mob of miscreants. During this time a child fell down in the scuffle and the miscreants started damaging QRT’s vehicle and attacked QRT personnel.
