Encounter Between Security Forces And Terrorists In Shopian

Encounter between security forces and terrorists continues in Shopian, one terrorist died: Shopian Encounter.

Continuing their counter-terrorist operation, the security forces on Wednesday killed a terrorist in an encounter in Shrimal, Shopian, South Kashmir.

The security forces are continuing their operation against his other comrades.

Earlier, in Sopore city of  North Kashmir, the security forces have also claimed to have arrested a suspected terrorist who fled the blockade.

According to the information received here, about the sighting of a group of terrorists in Shrimal, Shopian this afternoon, the police along with the army and CRPF personnel laid siege to the entire area.

When the soldiers were moving forward while searching, the terrorists hiding at one place opened fire on them to break the siege. The jawans retaliated by defending themselves and the encounter started.

Officials concerned said that the soldiers asked the terrorists to surrender several times, but they continued to fire. During this, one terrorist has been killed in retaliatory action.

Though the operation against his other accomplices is on, other details are awaited. He told that there may be one to two more terrorists there.

Earlier this afternoon, in Saidpora Sopore of North Kashmir, two youths on a motorcycle broke the block and escaped. The soldiers stationed at the block chased them.

On this, one youth managed to escape by getting off the motorcycle while the other was caught. The name of the arrested youth is being told as Altaf.

The identity of his other accomplice is being ascertained. If sources are to be believed, Altaf was going to be active in a terrorist organization while his accomplice who managed to escape was a terrorist.

Search for him is going on. However, the police have not officially confirmed that Altaf and his accomplices are terrorists or have links with terrorists.

In Arampora of Sopore, the security forces conducted a cordon and search operation on the information of the hiding of the terrorists, which continued till late evening.
