Encounter continues in Uri sector, two terrorists killed, three army personnel injured: Uri Encounter.

Army personnel on Saturday killed two terrorists in a fierce encounter along the Line of Control in North Kashmir’s Uri (Baramulla) sector.

Three army personnel were also injured during this. However, till late night there was no official confirmation by the police or the army.

Sources said that this encounter took place in the same area in the Rampur sub-sector of the Uri sector, where three terrorists were killed by the army on Thursday morning while foiling an infiltration attempt.

However, the sources did not say whether the terrorists killed today were members of the infiltration team last Thursday or whether there has been a fresh infiltration attempt today, which has been foiled.

Sources said that in the forward part of the Rampur sub-sector, army personnel saw terrorists coming from across the LoC. He challenged the terrorists and asked them to surrender.

Ignoring the warnings of the soldiers, the terrorists started firing on them with their automatic weapons. They also fired rifle grenades at the jawans.

Three army personnel were injured during this. Other soldiers retaliated. With this, the whole area reverberated with the sound of gunfire.

As soon as the information about the encounter was received, soldiers from nearby posts also reached the spot.

They tightened the siege of the terrorists and took the injured soldiers from the encounter site to the military hospital for treatment.

Encounter continues in Uri sector: Sources said that two terrorists were killed in this operation which continued till late at night.

Meanwhile, a police officer from Uri said that the area where the military operation is going on is far away and is along the LoC.

The death of the terrorists can be confirmed only when their bodies are recovered.

Kanachak police have arrested the couple accused of an attempt to murder and started an investigation against them.

Police are looking for two more accused in this case, who are the parents of the arrested accused. Purkhu Bhalwal, a resident of Pyarelal Mehta at Kanachak police station, had lodged a complaint in this regard.
