Fifty thousand crore leakage stopped due to digitalization of PDS, scheme implemented in 35 states.

The ‘One Nation-One Ration Card’ scheme has been implemented in 35 states and union territories of the country.

After this, 96.3 percent i.e. more than 77 crore beneficiaries of the country have been connected with all the ration shops under the National Food Security Act through the public ration system.

With its implementation, beneficiaries can pick up food grains from any state or any ration shop within the state.

Since the implementation of this provision, more than 56 crore transactions have been done under it.

Workers migrating from one place to another in search of livelihood have started getting benefits.

Union Food and Public Distribution Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey told in a conversation with media that the laborers of Bihar going in search of employment have made a record one crore.

More transactions are done. That is, instead of their original ration shops, they have received ration from shops in other places.

Whereas last year only 2.6 lakh ration card holders are taking advantage of this every month in Delhi, which is included in the ‘One Nation-One Ration Card’ scheme.

Fifty thousand crore leakage stopped: The scheme is yet to be implemented in Assam.

On the question of stopping the misuse of food subsidy by digitizing PDS, Pandey said that about 19 crore people have been excluded in digitizing this entire system.

This number is about a quarter of the total 80 crore beneficiaries. That is, out of the subsidy of two lakh crore rupees, food grains worth 50 thousand crore rupees were going into the wrong hands.

This huge leakage has been successful in checking. The entire chain of Public Distribution System (PDS) is getting the two-pronged benefits of end-to-end computerization.

On the one hand, while the rightful consumers are getting their due food grains on time, the misuse of the public exchequer has stopped.

Apart from this, the One Nation-One Ration Card has given maximum benefit to the migrant laborers.

The benefits of this new system have started getting the people coming from within the state as well as those migrating to other states.
