Four More Rafale Warplanes Arrived In India From France

Four more Rafale warplanes arrived in India from France, the first squadron of Rafale planes completed with the fifth shipment.

The fifth consignment of four Rafale warplanes reached India from France at 11.45 pm on Wednesday. The refueling of these aircraft was arranged by the French Air Force and the UAE while traveling eight thousand kilometers non-stop.

India has 18 Rafale aircraft with the fifth stamp.

Indian Air Force chief RKS Bhadauria had flagged off these aircraft from France’s Marignac Bordeaux airbase on Wednesday.

Officials said that as soon as this fifth stamp of Rafale warplanes reached India, the Indian Air Force currently has a total of 18 Rafale aircraft. This has led to the completion of a squadron of Rafale aircraft with the Indian Air Force.

The first squadron of 18 aircraft stationed at Ambala airbase.

The first squadron of 18 aircraft is deployed at Ambala airbase. While the second squadron i.e. the other 18 Rafale aircraft is to be deployed at the Hashimara airbase of West Bengal.

All four Rafale aircraft landed at the airbase late at 11.45 pm.

The Indian Embassy also thanked the Rafale aircraft for handing over to India within the stipulated time and proper training of the pilots even during the Covid-19 round.

Also thanked the UAE for refueling the aircraft in the air during the non-stop flight of the aircraft.

In 2016, India decided to buy 36 Rafale warplanes from France.

In September 2016, the Government of India decided to purchase 36 Rafale (two squadrons) warplanes from France for the Indian Air Force.

This defense deal was signed between the two governments for 59 thousand crores rupees. All 36 aircraft are to be delivered to India by the end of this year.

This two-engined warplane is capable of nuclear attack. It can target 14 locations simultaneously.

It is capable of carrying out air defense shield to air to ground and sea attack. It also has air-to-air missiles, scalp cruise missiles, and Hammer Smart Weapon.
