Frontier Highway: Arunachal’s 1500 Km Road Project Along the India-Tibet-China-Myanmar Border.

In a significant development, the Arunachal Pradesh government is gearing up to construct a sprawling 1500 km long highway known as the “Frontier Highway.”

This ambitious project is strategically positioned along the India-Tibet-China-Myanmar border, running just 20 km away from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and international boundaries.

The Frontier Highway holds paramount importance for both the state and the military.

Additionally, there are plans to construct an extensive 1000 km road network to connect remote regions within the state.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu has emphasized the highway’s strategic significance and its potential to revolutionize the transportation landscape in Arunachal Pradesh, benefiting not only civilians but also the armed forces stationed in the area.

The Frontier Highway’s journey will commence in Bomdila, traversing through key locations such as Nafra, Huri, and Monigong before reaching its termination point at Vijayanagara, situated on the India-Myanmar border.

This vital route will connect crucial destinations including Tawang, Mago, Upper Subansiri, Upper Siang, Mechuka, Tooting, Dibang Valley, Kibithu, Changlang, and Dong.

One notable aspect of this initiative is its integration with the ongoing Trans-Arunachal Highway project.

The Trans-Arunachal Highway, spanning approximately 1,811 km and adhering to national highway standards, connects Tawang in the northwest to Kanubari in the southeast.

CM Pema Khandu believes that the completion of the Frontier Highway will play a pivotal role in curbing migration from border regions, thereby bolstering security and development efforts in the area.

This strategic infrastructure endeavor promises not only enhanced connectivity but also economic and security benefits for Arunachal Pradesh, making it a project of immense significance in the region.
