G-20 Summit To Begin Tomorrow In Saudi Arabia

G-20 Summit to begin tomorrow in the shadow of protest, for the first time in Saudi Arabia

The forthcoming G-20 Summit is starting on 21 November. For the first time, 20 countries of the world are going to participate in a virtual platform in this conference starting in the Corona era.

Apart from the global pandemic, Kovid-19 will be at the center of the issues arising during this summit. The possibility of discussion on climate change has also increased after the report of G20 has been revealed.

Apart from this, measures will be taken to bring back the derailed economy due to Covid-19 in this conference. Let us tell you that Saudi Arabia is hosting this conference for the first time.

Through this conference, Saudi Arabia will definitely look to improve its relations with other emerging economic powers of the world.

Human rights activists threaten boycott

According to the news agency AFP, Saudi Arabia’s role in the ongoing war in Yemen and the human rights violations within its country has been subjected to severe criticism at times.

This is the reason that before the commencement of this summit, preparations for the protest against it have started. Supporters and relatives of human rights activists in jails have also appealed for its boycott.

Knowing the importance of this platform globally, these people have chosen this time for their protest.

US MP in protest

Human Rights Watch recently said that Saudi Arabia presents itself as a social reformer but women have been harassed here.

At the same time, 45 US parliament senators have also raised the issue of human rights violations of Saudi Arabia and appealed not to attend the conference.

The Members of Parliament have also written a letter to Vice President Mike Pompeo for this.

These MPs demand that Saudi Arabia should first release the jailed human rights activists, the interference of Saudi Arabia in Yemen should also stop and the accountability of the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi should be fixed.

G20 Women’s Summit

Significantly, a few days ago, Saudi Arabia also organized the G20 Women’s Summit. Through this, Saudi Arabia indicated gender equality.

It also described the rights given to women. Let me tell you that in recent years, big changes have been observed in Saudi Arabia regarding women.

Permission to open cinema, permission to watch matches, permission to drive, right to vote, allow women to watch concerts.
