General Narwane’s Three-Day Visit To Nepal: Today, The Last Day

General Narwane’s Three-Day Visit To Nepal: Today, The Last Day, know all the information related to it.

Nepal, following a decades-old tradition, on Thursday gave the title of Honorary President of the Nepalese Army to General MM Narwane, Chief of the Indian Army.

Today is his last day of the day. In a special ceremony, President Vidya Devi Bhandari honored General Narwane with the title of Honorary Army Chief.

Both countries have a tradition of giving this honorary title to each other’s army chief.

The importance of this tradition has increased this time due to the ongoing border dispute between the two countries and the anti-India statements of the Nepal government in recent months.

In a ceremony held at Sheetal Niwas, the official residence of the President, Bhandari gave swords, authority marks, and certificates to General Narwane.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Government of Nepal Minister, Indian Ambassador Vinay M. Quatra, and senior officials were also present at the function.

The tradition of conferring the honorary commander-in-chief between India and Nepal to each other’s army chiefs began in 1950. It is considered a symbol of a strong close relationship between the two countries.

General of the Indian Army KM Cariappa was the first Army Chief to become the Honorary President of the Nepalese Army.

While General Purna Chandra Thapa, the current Chief of the Nepali Army, was conferred with the title of Honorary President of the Indian Army by President Ram Nath Kovind in a ceremony held in New Delhi in January 2019.

The statement issued by the Nepali Army said that this long-standing tradition symbolizes the strong ties between the armies of the two countries.

After the ceremony, General Narwane met President Bhandari and thanked him for the honor. Also discussed bilateral relations of both countries.

General Narwane and Indian Ambassador Quatra also discussed ways to further develop the relationship between the two countries with Bhandari.

Earlier, discussions were held between General Narwane and General Thapa over the current challenges and increasing ties. General Narwane also paid tribute to Nepali soldiers by visiting them.

The Indian Army Chief is in Nepal on a three-day visit. The main objective of his visit is to end the bitterness created by the border dispute between the two countries.

Earlier this year, the Nepal government had included Kalapani, Lipulekh, and Limpiyadhura of Uttarakhand in its map. After this, there was tension in the relations between the two countries.

China’s influence in Nepal has increased rapidly in recent years. But now, with India’s active, it is clear that its relations with Nepal are still hot.
