Grenade Blast in Handwara: Grenade explodes in the premises of a private school in Handwara, sweeper injured.

The sanitary worker was injured in a bomb blast Saturday at a school in Handwara, North Kashmir. The injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The police have registered a case in this regard and started investigating.

According to the information found here, this incident took place this morning. Police sources said the grenade exploded when a sanitation worker was working at Hillsville, a private school in Handwara.

Cleaning worker Riyaz Ahmad Ahangar was cleaning the premises by reaching school in the morning as usual. Meanwhile, an unclaimed bomb exploded in the garbage there.

Riyaz was seriously injured in this blast. Hearing the sound of the bombings, there was panic among the staff and locals present in the school.

At first, they felt that an encounter between the terrorists and the security forces had started. But when they saw that Riyaz had fallen in an injured state on the school premises, they immediately rushed him to the local hospital.

He is undergoing treatment. At present, his condition is said to be critical.

On the other hand, SP Handwara Dr. GV Sandeep said that preliminary investigation has revealed that an old unclaimed rusted grenade was lying in a part of the school premises.

There is a blast in this. This area was once terrorized. It may be that a terrorist hid the grenade in the school premises.

He said that Riyaz, who is currently injured, is not in speaking condition. His statement will be recorded when he comes to his senses. At the moment, we are investigating the case.
